About
My name is Patrick Hebert and I have been working in the e-recycling field since 2006. Having been laid off from a larger e-recycler, I’ve made it my on-going quest to fight against electronic pollution.
As someone living with type 1 diabetes, I’ve often wondered what happens to old glucometers. My diabetes educator told me that they are all thrown out.
Containing both useful resources and harmful substances, glucomters are not generally recycled. Glucometers and and other medical electronics SHOULD be recycled and it is my family’s mission to make this happen. It is my vision to create a convenient collection network for these devices, put working devices back to work for people in need, and recycle unusable devices properly in OECD countries (avoiding export of e-waste to developing nations).
We’ve approached major manufacturers of testing devices, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies (so far to no avail) to work with but are acting on our own at this point so we would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.
If you wish to assist by hosting a collection event or in any other way, please feel free to contact me at any time. By the same token, any suggestions you may have to improve service are more than welcome.
Thank you for your support,
