25 Million People have diabetes in North America, and millions more don’t know they have it yet. Each person living with diabetes must test their blood sugar regularly to ensure proper control and to prevent long term complications such as heart disease, blindness, stroke, and many other issues.
Technological advances over the years have made testing blood sugar easier, faster, and more convenient. But what happens to those old glucometers & insulin pumps?
Until now, nothing.
While legislation to regulate the disposal of most forms of electronic waste is being introduced throughout the world, medical electronic devices such as blood glucose monitors are not being subjected to the same regulations.
We’re trying to do something about that.
If you have diabetes and would like to ensure that your old glucometer and insulin pump gets properly recycled, please send it to us. We’ll melt it down and recycle it for resource recovery. High temperature processing – above 700 degrees Fahrenheit – are utilized to ensure that bacteria and viruses are destroyed.
